Applying AI-DLC combined with our Product Definition service

For an improved velocity

One of our first AI software development projects at the beginning of 2025

Using AI for software development has become the norm. And the advantages we achieved a year ago by using AI can be further improved as the technology matures rapidly. At Yonder, we have been investigating AI for many years and began applying it in projects at the beginning of  2025. One of our first major engagements was for a client active in the energy and defense industries.

This client needed a new versioning system for their PSA (Probabilistic Safety Assessment) product, and it was a great opportunity for us to use AI-DLC. This also meant that the focus had to move upstream. We had to define what needs to be built, how it should be approached, and why it matters in detail, so we could achieve the promised velocity of AI. Our Product Definition service is key as it brings clarity, direction, and alignment early in the process. Now we can use the speed of AI-first development as it will not be constrained by unclear goals, weak requirements, or poor framing.

Product Definition Service

We designed the Product Definition service to define the overall project in detail, so we would have a blueprint containing:
  1. Defined and documented the product requirements.
  2. Identified the right technical architecture for a web-based solution that meets the project requirements and accommodates existing constraints.
  3. Designed an interactive prototype for customer validation.
  4. Detailed the implementation effort for a minimum viable product.

Now that we have a clear blueprint of the requirements and implementation efforts, we could start using AI to develop the MVP. In an upcoming article, we will focus on the technical scope of the solution. For now, we will highlight the business benefits of using AI for development in combination with the Product Definition service. This accelerates discovery and prototyping, enabling rapid validation and closer alignment between stakeholders and engineers.

Key results

In February 2025, the AI-driven framework accelerated delivery, reducing the estimated implementation time from 5–6 months to approximately 3 months. With current advancements in AI technology, even greater improvements are possible.

We used the AI-DLC approach to deliver requirements, clickable prototypes, and a future-proof technical architecture for a new versioning system while maintaining existing technologies. And we accomplished this with a team of approx 3.2 experienced FTEs.
