Daniel Lar – 30 yonderful moments to remember

Daniel Lar, who’s been with us for 27 years is more than a Managing Director – he has been the driving force behind Yonder’s story, adding his touch to our journey of growth and success.

“Looking back at my years in Yonder, a bit shorter than our round age of 30, it’s difficult to pick out just one story. Selecting just one feels like picking the best flavor at an ice cream parlor with too many options—all great ones, in their own way.

However, the theme that I see recurring in my story is that of growth within the context of relationships – relationships with customers, colleagues, and management.

It’s about the frequent meetings with customers, where I got the chance to see the cooperation from their perspective and try to understand what matters to them. Sure, not all discussions were easy, but they were always helpful. And let’s not forget the countless trips – so many- there are areas in the Netherlands where I can still navigate without a GPS.

Then there are those meetings with other executives within our holding group, where we are learning from each other, still feeling like students in a class, all with similar challenges and all learning together. And there are many best practices within TSS and CSI to learn from.

It’s about learning with and from colleagues. I can still remember debates about technology and getting a good code review from Remus and many others – which might be the reason why I went into management. Or working in the early days through the night after a customer escalation and waiting to get more bugs (by fax, mind you) or traveling to our Iasi office by night train in the early days to meet our colleagues there. Additionally, having daily meetings with our team during COVID, trying to understand what’s happening and what we need to do.

To the present, when Yonder has gotten so large that I continue to learn things about new projects, new technologies, and new internal approaches. And I am amazed at what our teams can accomplish. I am sure I don’t know everything we’re doing because there is a spirit of learning and growth that pushes us forward through great colleagues who believe in making it happen.

Because, in the end, great business is about trusted relationships, learning from each other, growing together – and the results are just a consequence of that.”

Thank you for sharing this with us, Daniel!
