Learning that connects, happiness that spreads: CSR Highlights Q1

January-March 2025

This article marks the start of a new series focused on our CSR journey. Every quarter, we’ll take a moment to reflect on how we give back, support others, and build meaningful connections, all under the umbrella of #yonderdoinggood.

We believe meaningful learning doesn’t happen only in classrooms, and happiness often comes from the impact we create for others. That’s why, in the first quarter of 2025, guided by the theme of Learning & Happiness, our CSR efforts focused on turning knowledge into care and presence into impact.

Supporting tomorrow’s changemakers: learning spaces and career bridges

In January, we attended the inauguration of the Hans Rosling Classroom at the Department of Public Health, Babeș-Bolyai University, a modern learning space designed for future professionals in public health. This project reflects our commitment to investing in infrastructure today and a healthier society tomorrow.

Later, in March, we connected with students more directly through two career-focused events: CariereinIT, organized by Societatea Hermes in Cluj, and FIIpractic, a program held in Iași. At CariereinIT, over 30 students explored our space, learned how real projects unfold, and engaged in open conversations about what it means to build a career in IT starting as a student.
In Iași,  our colleagues stepped into the role of mentors, eager to share their knowledge and experience with a new generation of tech enthusiasts

Opening doors to curiosity: Introducing tech to kids from disadvantaged areas

In February, students from Gârbău School visited our Cluj office for a playful introduction to the tech world. Through an interactive activity, they explored different roles and matched them to real colleagues. Along the way, they asked questions, shared laughs, and discovered just how diverse and exciting the world of technology can be.

“For many of these kids, opportunities like this are rare. We talked about the importance of education, resilience, and how knowledge can open doors, no matter where you start from. And during their visit, you could see hope, curiosity, and confidence growing”, says Ecaterina, Employer Branding Team

We hope this visit planted a small seed. One that, with time and encouragement, will grow into knowledge, ambition, and the courage to dream bigger.

Sharing what we know, for safety and trust: Casa Filip cybersecurity sessions

At Casa Filip (a second home for cancer patients and their families during treatment), we held two sessions on cybersecurity and fraud prevention, tailored for patients and caregivers. The sessions were part of our ongoing commitment to turning expertise into care through regular, recurring sessions led by our Security team.

“One reason I joined this initiative was to learn how to talk about Security in a way that resonates with people who have no experience in the field and who are facing far more immediate challenges in their lives. My goal wasn’t to pressure them, but to spark useful curiosity and a healthy dose of digital skepticism. I leave each session feeling recharged and hopeful — knowing that I’ve helped someone feel more confident and better protected online.” – Ovidiu, Security Team

Despite meeting new people at every session, a consistent energy keeps us coming back: openness, warmth, and genuine engagement. Participants ask questions, share stories, and often turn the conversation into something profoundly personal and valuable for everyone in the room. For us, these workshops are also a strong example of teamwork and collective empathy. It’s about showing up with clarity (but also with care) and knowing you’re part of a team that genuinely supports people, even in vulnerable contexts.

Joy, dignity and the magic of small things: gift distribution for children in care or with disabilities

In partnership with Pas cu Pas Association, we helped distribute gifts to children in care and those with disabilities. Although the gifts were prepared with the help of the Yonderists in December, they were intentionally delivered in February to bring balance and meaning beyond the holiday rush.

“Watching the kids open their gifts with excitement was deeply moving, especially when some of them, so easily and naturally, set aside part of their gifts for those who hadn’t received any. We laughed, we played, we shared hugs and stories. I felt like we left a bit of warmth in their hearts, and they certainly left some in mine.” – Simona, one of our colleagues who joined the visit.

Fueling innovation and critical thinking in the next tech generation: YouthCraft AI Session

Through the YouthCraft initiative led by Phoenix Robotics, our colleagues Paul and Alex introduced high school students to the fundamentals and practical uses of AI while encouraging critical thinking and real dialogue about the future of tech. A key message echoed throughout the session:

“AI should augment our intelligence, not replace it. While AI is a powerful tool, critical thinking and information processing remain essential. Without them, we risk becoming passive users of technology rather than informed creators and thinkers.” – Paul, Head of Innovation at Yonder.

The small group and relaxed vibe allowed for meaningful dialogue. Students openly shared how they perceive AI, how much they already use it, and where they think it’s going. It was a genuine exchange, a moment of shared learning, not just teaching, and a step toward building a more thoughtful tech generation.

Looking forward

In the first quarter, Learning & Happiness guided our actions with purpose. We’ll carry that spirit into the next quarter, with a new theme, Earth Mindfulness, and more opportunities to create meaning together.
