Yonder Hackathon – 9 & 10 May 2025

Yes, it is Yonder Hackathon time again!

Just like in previous years, we will host our annual hackathon in Iasi and Cluj on the same date. The tradition began in 2016 when we organized our first company-wide hackathon. It is a two-day event where clients and Yonder professionals join and dedicate themselves to innovation. A time to focus solely on the future of the product suite, on combining the expected market and client needs with advancements in technologies such as AI, cloud solutions, and DevOps practices, to name a few.

The teams create prototypes of innovations for their end clients. From Yonder, there will be dedicated software developers per innovation and a group of experts such as UI/UX designers, architects, and testers, for example, who share their expertise across teams where needed.

Preparing for the hackathon

The preparations for the hackathon start long before the actual event. The teams sit together with clients and prospects to discuss their challenges, needs, and innovation requirements. Our professionals and Techboard members discuss what new options technology could offer specific clients and how these can help their challenges. Put those ingredients together, and they have the perfect mixture to experiment with pragmatic innovations focusing on a current or future market need.

Like last year, AI is a hot topic, and it will likely be one of the technologies most in demand at this year’s hackathon. In a later article, we will focus more on AI and what our AI and Innovation expert, Paul Cirstean, thinks should be considered this year.

A hackathon is hard work yet fun and energizing

Having many clients present, mostly in person, some online, in different teams, together with the Yonder professionals hacking away in their dedicated areas within our offices, is very energizing. Each team focuses on its unique project, yet you can feel the collegial vibe throughout the office and a bit of friendly competition. It makes the hackathon a fun social experience and a good time to network next to the professional challenge of creating new, technologically advanced prototypes within the teams.

Schedule:

• 8 May – opening dinner starting at around 19:30/20:00 hours
• 9 May – opening Hackathon at around 9:00 at our offices until into the wee hours of the morning
• 10 May – final day with closing presentations by each team at the end of the afternoon.
