The PUG Challenge 2021 – tell us what Progress topics interest you

The PUG Challenge continues in 2021 as a virtual experience by popular demand

Now is the moment when you can let us know what topics you would like us to explore at the upcoming EMEA PUG Challenge in November of this year. We can submit presentation topics for the annual event, and a PUG program committee will decide which ones will make the cut. During last year’s event, the organizers selected five of our topics. We base our ideas on the subjects we run across in the collaborations, but we would value it if clients came with specific requests. So, what is on the minds of Progress companies? What technical subjects would they like to hear about at the PUG in November?

The EMEA PUG Challenge

This is the conference for all Progress enthusiasts, whether they are developers, infrastructure experts, database administrators, consultants, managers, or business owners, mostly located in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. It is a user group-organized event and focuses primarily on the technical side of Progress.

In 2020, like all events, the PUG was hosted virtually. Normally, most speakers and attendees come from EMEA, but there was a global audience as it was an online event. On the day before the conference, Progress hosts workshops and presentations for all who are interested. Then the 2-day PUG event follows with presentations by the community.

Our contribution to the PUG

Our Yonder Progress Community had the pleasure of being invited to host five different presentations:

  • Improving the UI/UX of your Progress legacy product – Gabriel Lucaciu
  • Product lifecycle extension of your Progress app – Gabriel Lucaciu
  • Strategies for managing UX design of your new or modernized product – Gabriel Lucaciu
  • Boost your Progress app with IoT – Sergiu Bălăucă
  • Automation Test Strategy for Progress Web Applications – Oxana Mureșan

The experience included a chat tool that gave access to all attendees so you could chat with anyone you wanted to at the conference. Like every year, the PUG closed the event with entertainment, this time an online party with music, a magician, and a beatboxer.

Now is the time to submit your requests for the PUG 2021

All in all, the organizers succeeded in creating a great event with all the assets in place to enjoy the experience. This year they had originally planned to host the challenge in Vienna. But by popular demand, the 2021 edition will still be an online event as there is still too much uncertainty. Furthermore, the organizers promised us more “live and interactive content” than last year, so we are looking forward to another great online event. The workshops/Progress pre-event day will be on 10 November, followed by the PUG conference on 11 and 12 November.

So, what topics would you like us to discuss at the PUG? What are you curious about? What are you planning for your Progress technology-based product? What is keeping you awake at night?

We are looking forward to receiving topic requests and to attending and presenting at this year’s PUG. And although the online experience is excellent, I secretly can’t wait to meet all of you in the Progress community face-to-face again. Until then, let’s be thankful that we have online.
